Abstract

New composite seperators for lithium ion batteries were prepared by coating PEO mixed with nanosize SiO_(2)onto microporous polypropylene(PP) seperators. Highly conductive electrolytes were prepared by soaking them in an electrolyte solution. With these composite separators, the lithium ion cell consisting of Li anode and LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.2)O_(2)cathode were assembled. The high initial discharge capacity and good capacity retention were obtained through the cell.
