Introduction

This special issue of Journal of Electrochemistry (the official publication of the Chinese Society of Electrochemistry) is dedicated to showcasing the outstanding research achievements of the award winners from the 22nd National Electrochemical Congress, which was successfully held in Hainan, China, in 2024. Centered on the theme “Electrochemistry for Advancing Carbon Neutrality and High-Quality Development,” the congress served as a pivotal platform to present the latest progress and breakthroughs in China’s electrochemical field, explore the fundamental principles of electrochemical issues, and discuss their practical solutions and implementation pathways.

The collected papers herein reflect cutting-edge insights into electrochemical mechanisms, innovative material designs, and scalable technological applications, collectively embodying the dedication of China’s electrochemical community to addressing pressing global challenges. We believe this special issue will not only serve as a valuable reference for researchers, engineers, and policymakers in the field but also inspire further advancements in electrochemical science to support a sustainable and low-carbon future.
