Abstract
A novel Zn-MnO2 battery ststem by use of spinel related MnO2 as positive electrode and Zn(ClO4)2 in propyl carbonate as electrolyte was constructed and its charge discharge behaviour was studied. The results show that the cell reaction of the system proceeds through the electrochemical intercalation of zinc into the crystalline lattice of MnO2 to form ZnxMn2O4. At x≤0.5, ZnxMn2O4 onstrates excellent cycleability (>200 cycles), higher discharge charge efficiency (>90%) and prolonged storage life.
