Abstract
In this paper, the latest research work on modification of carbon anode materials of lithium ion secondary battery is reviewed. Modification methods include: incorporation of nonmetal elements such as boron, silicon, nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur, metal elements such as potassium, aluminum, gallium and transitional metal elements such as vanadium, nickel, cobalt, copper and iron and surface treatment such as oxidation and formation of surface layer. Since these methods can affect the carbon materials' electronics state, crystal structure and surface structure, the electrochemical properties of the carbon materials could probably be improved. Besides, mechanisms for lithium storage in carbonaceous materials are briefly introduced.
