Abstract
Solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC) is a novel, green electricity generation technology, which has been showing rapid development since 1980's. In light of its high efficiency, environmental friendly, fuel adaptability and long term stability, the Research, Development and Demonstration(RD&D) of this hype of full cell have been emphasized in a large number of developed countries. Based on the information communicated at the latest symposium on SOFC held last year in Aachen(Germany) and the knowledge gained through years of research in this field, a comprehensive review on the latest development of the tubular, this planar SOFC as well as on a number of novel types of SOFC is presented. The research focus and swift development on reduced temperature SOFCs utilizing both YSZ thin films and new electrolytes have been outlined in detail.
