Abstract

Electrochromic rhodium oxide films were prepared on ITO substrate by sol-gel method. The films exhibited reversible two-color (bright yellow at reduction and dark green at oxidation) electrochromic behavior in alkaline solution with good cycle stability. In-situ XRD, TGA-DTA, IR, XPS methods were used for studying the structure and chemical process of the films. The diffusion coefficient during the electrochromic process was measured by electrochemical impedance spectra method. It was found that the rhodium oxide films may be suitable for the use in electrochromic devices.
